Control and Prevention
Rangers:
- Oversee enforcement of the Act on the Nature and Landscape Protection and of the National Park Visiting Order;
- Provide guidance to visitors – informing them about the natural processes and values in the territory, tourist attractions, and current condition of hiking trails. They also arrange lectures and escorts;
- Ensure permanent monitoring of the territory and direct contact between the National Park Administration and the visitors;
- Ensure monitoring of conditions of the outdoor tourist infrastructure and participate in its maintenance;
- Participate in research projects and monitoring of specially protected species of flora and fauna;
- Cooperate with the Integrated Rescue System in emergencies and in providing first aid to visitors.
Ranger Powers
Rangers are legally empowered to:
a) Identify persons who violate nature protection regulations;
b) Impose and collect fixed penalties (tickets) for offences concerning nature protection;
c) Enter private properties under conditions set out in Act No. 114/1992 Czech Law Coll., on Nature and Landscape Protection;
d) Detain persons whom they catch violating legal regulations on nature and landscape protection, in order to establish their identity and hand them over to authorities of the Police of the Czech Republic; persons caught are obliged to obey;
e) Request assistance or cooperation of authorities of the Police of the Czech Republic or municipal police, as appropriate, if they are unable to ensure fulfilment of their obligations using their own powers and means;
f) Stop the disturbing activities.
Ranger Identification and Duties
In their activities, Rangers are required to:
a) Identify themselves with service cards and wear the official badge;
b) Monitor compliance with the regulations on nature and landscape protection;
c) Report forthwith any and all defects, deficiencies, and damages to the establishing authority or to authorities of the Police of the Czech Republic or relevant state administration authorities, as appropriate.
